Hanwoori Korean Restaurant

We were planning on going to Cho Sun once again for some korean but I opted to try someplace different instead.  So I took a sharp u-turn and hooked a right turn on kingsway.  I’ve seen this establishment for many years now but never visited since it was so tucked away located next to a car repair garage and across from Visions.

Hanwoori Korean Restaurant
5740 Imperial St, Burnaby BC
Tel#: (604) 439-0815

Inside was super hot and dated.  I wish they turned up the AC for the simple reason that it is summer.  We got seated on a big long table and given some heavy menus.

This place seems stingy because they don’t give you all side dishes when you order any item, you’ll have to read carefully as some items only give u 2 side dishes or even none!  You’d have to pay for extras if you wanted other kinds, even for refills.  SO we ordered and after some confusion as to per person for 2 or order 2 of this??? we got that settled.

The bowls are kinda nice.  But this place needs to turn up its AC, like seriously………..here are some of their side dishes.

We ordered a gigantic meal for 2.  It’s a spicy broth mix of random items.  I don’t even remember the name of this but it had some weird stuff in it, spam/hot dog/tofu/chicken/veggies/ramen noodle/rice cakes….

I don’t particularly enjoy eating hot soup when it’s already pretty hot inside the restaurant but whatevs…bring it on!   The soup had a real good spicy kick to it and there was more than enough for 4 people here.

This is their version of sweet and sour chicken.  The chicken pieces were nice and crunchy.  Solid pieces no fillers and the sauce wasn’t overpowering or gummy.  Nice clean flavor that came across the dish very well.

After our meal they gave us some complimentary rice / barley water.  It was so refreshing!  I drank both bowls.  LOL

Overall our dinner turned out to be over $400 worth because I asked Colleen if we could take a gander at some car speakers in Visions next door and yes, there was a sale and I ended up grabbing a set of car speakers. LOL  But seriously, next time I eat here I will wait til Visions is closed for the day.  LOL
