After my first appointment in downtown, Marv ‘n I decided to have lunch at Benkei Ramen since we had parked right outside of it. We had about an hour to kill before my next appointment so we thought this would be a quick place to eat.

We arrived before 11:30 and there was already quite a few tables occupied. There was a communal table near the back of the restaurant where a lot of people stop in for a quick bite during lunch. It was interesting to see how many people actually came in for a table for 1!
After looking through the menu, we decided on some Pork Gyoza‘s to start. These were so juicy…to the point where I bit into one and the juice/oil squirted….yes squirted all the way to the other side of the table narrowly missing Marvs elbow! That was quite a shot!
Marv decided to go with the Shiyo Ramen, SUMO sized of course. He had expected this to be about 50% more than regular sized(as there was a poster on the wall saying 50/50…but really we had no idea what that meant.. lol) What came to the table was the above…a regular bowl(same size as mine) with a tiny bowl of extra noodles. I’d say it was probably only 1/4 more of what I got in my bowl.
And I decided to get the Miso Ramen with Corn. The soup was light. From the pictures, it would appear that I would have a lot of ramen in my bowl, but unfortunately there was only a small amount masked by the abundance amount of bean sprouts.
Overall, we were disappointed with the food here, considering there are tons of ramen places in the downtown area, we will definitely go elsewhere for our ramen fix.
