One of my coworkers has been raving about Hy`s for the longest time, so we decided to give it a try. Marv had no hesitations to come give this place a try since he`s always looking for a great steak. We ended up not using flash for this post, didn’t want to bother the tables surrounding us as they didn’t seem like they would appreciate flashes going off every now and then.

We made our way downtown after work and parked in the wrong parking lot! Alright, if I hadn`t google`d the street view for this restaurant, we probably would`ve never found it. The outside is so unassuming with only the name displayed on the ground. Seriously, I would`ve never found it lol 🙂 We were warmly greeted and led to our cozy table by the display window where they cook the meat. I found it got quite warm and distracting as the meal progressed.
We decided to start off with their Cheese Toast and Caesar Salad. We found the cheese toast to be on the burnt side and preferred the regular house garlic toast over it. We really enjoyed our waiter Bob who threw together the Caesar salad effortlessly table side. It was done well, thanks Bob!
Ahh, finally our main attraction. I went with their 10 oz ny strip, and guess who had to top me?? Yes, that is Marvs steak cooking on in their display window. The servers who saw it also stopped by to comment on the giant piece of meat cooking.
And here it is! No, it’s not listed on the menu, Marv went and asked if there was any option bigger than their 20 oz porterhouse listed on the menu. Our waiter said they could cut the strip any size he wanted, so what did he decide to go with?? 30 oz! Yes, this was after we had 2 baskets of garlic toast, our cheese toast and a big serving of Caesar Salad. His steak makes the baked potato look so tiny!
Overall, we enjoyed our meal here mainly because of the service we received. We’ll probably pass on the cheese toast next time, but the Caesar salad is definitely a reorder!

How much was the 30 oz steak?
Hey Crispy! 🙂
We don’t really remember cause when the bill came, they split it out into 3 separate lines since they said they couldn’t bill a 30oz… i believe it was roughly $80ish?
