It’s a Sunday morning and we met up with a couple of Colleens friends for some good old fashion dim sum! We went to this location because it is close to home and I’ve never been here before. So a try is required.
We got there rather on time but stayed outside for a bit to cool off and enjoy some fresh air. After we went in, we discovered our friend Sharon already waiting for us inside and giving us the stink eye as to why we were both standing outside waving our shirts around and gasping for air, we explained that it gets hot walking in the blazing hot sun with jeans on haha =]
First to arrive was their version of Baked BBQ Pork Bun. Baked bbq pork buns are a staple with Colleen. This version was the norm and nothing particularly special about it. Next to it is an order of stirred fried soy sauce rice rolls. I don’t really like eating rice rolls because they are boring and kinda flat in flavor.
Here we have deep fried eggplant with shrimp paste. You don’t have to guess who ordered this! It’s once again, basic in terms of flavor and only so-so. The deep fried spring rolls came next and it was filled with shrimps and it was crisp on the outside and had a nice shrimpy crunch on the inside. I don’t normally go for spring rolls but this was pretty good if I might say so myself.
At this point Meryl finally arrived to join us haha kidding! She got here the same time the tea did =] In the first picture we have some regular scallop sui mai and on the corner of it is an order of fried sticky rice. The sticky rice was only ok and the sui mai was boring! Let’s just say that dim sum is starting to bore me as well. I had to order chicken knee, joints if you will. These came out crispy and it was delicious.
To end our meal we decided to order up some coconut jello. Meeeaaah, average in both texture and flavor. Needs more coconut flavor.
Overall our breakfast was typical of any dim sum places and this place was no exception. Will I eat here again, most definitely not. There are a lot of other dim sum places to try out in Vancouver =]
