After a burnt experience at Hamilton ST grill, Colleen barely ate anything and was still hungry. So we threw out some ideas and decided upon KINGYO for dinner part 2.
We got lucky and manage to score free rockstar parking across the street. YES! And after taking a picture of my awesome parking spot we got in and was directed to the communal table. 2 bad tables in one night, I enjoy my privacy while I eat.
A little side note why I hate sharing tables, childhood traumatic experience of having people stare at me while I eat. Elderly asian ladies. It’s rude to stare yet it seems like it’s a common practice amongst them. So every time, and I mean every time I am eating in a chinese restaurant and I notice someone looking over at our food I tell them what the dish is and ask if they would like a taste. NO LIE. But they don’t understand english anyways so what’s the point. /RANT! moving on….
This time around Colleen took control of the ordering as I was too busy chatting with our friendly waiter about tattoos….lol
We got this really cool hot rock beef tongue dish. You cook it on a super hot rock and I find that it’s a fun participation dish and a good show piece for entertainment. Taste and portion wise was on the short end of the deal. But then again, I found it to be pretty cool looking.
And instead of your regular chicken karaage, Colleen got me this super tasty fish karaage. A nice change-up. Very tasty I must say. Well fried and light on the batter. Definitely yummy and a repeat for me.
And because Colleen has been on a ramen frenzy lately, we had to have their tan tan ramen. A very simple blend of peanut and spices but delicious enough to make it interesting to the pallete. I had one sip of the broth and that was all I could steal from it!
Last but not least was this beef bowl rice dish. The waiter mixed this in front of us and told us not to touch the bowl because it was very hot. I couldn’t take a picture pre-mix but it was very well presented. Taste wise, only so-so, could have gone with just a regular beef teriyaki bowl instead.
Overall our dining experience here filled us up and we would highly recommend this place because without fail, it always delivers in both quality and experience.
