***REFUEL IS NOW CLOSED***
We found ourself wandering around West 4th and was starting to feel a bit hungry. We didn’t have a specific place in mind to eat at, so we stumbled upon refuel and decided to give it a try. Actually, I was feeling rather hungry and didn’t want to walk anymore, so this was the next place we passed. The menu on the outside seemed interesting enough. Fried Chicken? Peanut & Chocolate Parfait? I’m sold!

Inside it was very dark which made it quite difficult to read the menu. We opted not to use flash in this place since the people seated around us did not appear like they would appreciate bright flashes in contrast to this very dark setting.
Since the Fried Chicken was on special, we decided to give it a try! It definitely sounded quite good in the description, and our server highly recommended it too. We thought it was a bit pricey for what you get. Unfortunately it ended up being too dry. The coleslaw was the best part of this dish. It was crisp, and refreshing.
And I can never pass up a burger. I ended up ordering the Dry Aged Beef Burger. The burger was a tad on the small slide, about the size of a slider(definitely smaller than a dinner roll). It was juicy, but lacked seasoning. The plate is loaded with fries and were nicely crisp. Again, the side was the highlight of the dish.
I was really looking forward to the Peanut & Chocolate Parfait. Again, the server highly recommended this dessert. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I didn’t enjoy this dessert at all. the ice cream melted almost right away and every bite had an overpowering peanut butter taste to it. It almost felt like I wasn’t eating peanut butter out of the jar but with a less sticky texture. It didn’t work well for me at all.
Overall, we didn’t enjoy our meal here. I guess this type of place doesn’t appeal to our tastes too much.
