Dim sum? Of course I’ll go to dim sum! Since I had to drop by T&T, Fortune City was the choice of restaurant since it is conveniently located upstairs of this plaza. Only have to look for parking once?! Double score! 🙂
We started off with the classic Shrimp Dumpling. It really isn’t dim sum unless you consume one of these. It’s a staple on any table. I found the wrapper to be on the thick side and not a lot of shrimp. I guess I’ve been spoiled lately since the other restaurants I’ve tried recently have a giant amount of shrimp inside. Quantity doesn’t always mean top quality right? To the right is the Beef Balls. These were quite bouncy in texture, nonetheless, it satisfied our craving.
Chicken Feet came to the table next. I love eating chicken feet when it comes to the table piping hot. Does anyone else find it less appetizing once it’s cooled down and congealed a bit? On the right is the Shrimp Spring Rolls. To be honest, as long as it’s crunchy, not oily with ample filling then I’m sold. Spring rolls are easily one of my favourite things to eat. Anytime – anywhere! 🙂
Above left is the Rice Roll wrap w/ Beef. Again, this is another one of my ‘must orders’ for dim sum. I’m usually outnumbered since everyone else likes to order the shrimp version, but I can easily polish off a plate to myself. to the right is the Black Bean Spareribs.
Above left is the Baked BBQ Pork Bun. Ever since the first time I tried this item, it has become another ‘must order’ for my dim sum outings. I’ve always loved eating ‘mexican buns’ found in asian bakeries and now it’s paired with sweet bbq pork filling! On the right was actually a misorder on our part. It was a bun with sticky rice in the middle. Well, to go with my previous comment, I love buns, and I love sticky rice – together was even better! I think I’ve found another must order to add to my list 🙂
We couldn’t just have 1 deep fried item, so we also ordered the Deep Fried Taro, this was nicely crisp on the outside and had plenty of filling. To the right is the Shrimp roll wrapped in Bean Curd. The filling had a nice crunch to it and the bean curd had a slight sweetness to it. I also enjoyed this dish.
Overall, our meal here was pretty average. None of the dishes stood out as the best/worst but it definitely satisfies our dim sum craving. It’s not a place we’d go out of our way just to eat at, but since it’s pretty close to home I’m sure we’ll be back again.
