Cindy`s Palace opened up close by to home and we decided to head on over to check it out. The first few times that we thought about stopping to eat, the place seemed to be packed and had no available parking on the side streets so we passed on it till now. Luckily we snagged a spot and got the last table in the restaurant. This place does fill up quickly! We heard it was the original owners of Golden Phoenix roughly 8 blocks down Nanaimo who opened up Cindy`s Palace.
We started off with a big pot of Preserved Egg Congee. It lacked filling, but that was expected. To the right is the Shui Mai. These were BIG pieces alright. I`m not used to it being so big, but the taste was still there. Lots of meat!
Above is the Baked BBQ Pork Buns. These were also BIG! I`m beginning to see the trend here. Although they look like they have been `manhandled`, the buns remained soft and fluffy with ample filling inside. I enjoyed these pork buns.
Above left is the Shrimp Spring Rolls. These were light and crisp, and had a nice shrimp to wrap ratio on each bite. To the right is the Shrimp Dumplings. Again, these were bigger than I`m used to. There was a lot of shrimp packed into each gummy wrapper.
Starting from the left is the Beef Balls, Chiu Chow Dumplings and the Beef Spareribs. Yes, everything is still big. The beef balls were nice and springy. The dumplings came with 4 rather than the usual 3 that I`m used to. Each one was stuffed with filling.
Overall, we found the dim sum here to be satisfying. The service was excellent and very attentive. This place does its job, and the big portions sure does attract the crowds!
