Hot Pot One closed down, and in opened Ktown Korean BBQ. I was a bit sad when hot pot one closed down, I actually liked it there. At the same time, I also really like korean bbq and was excited to have this restaurant open up in its place.

It had recently opened when we visited, so we decided to cut them some slack since there’s surely a few kinks to work out here and there. The place was pretty empty when we arrived for dinnertime, and it most certainly did not fill up while we were there. Not exactly a great sign of times to come.
The decor is pretty much the same as Hot Pot One, the tables and chairs were all the same. We were handed a menu of items to choose from for their all you can eat dinner. It’s a bit confusing, because there’s a few ‘rules’ when you order the dishes. For example, there’s dumplings which you can opt for the pan fried or steamed version. We wanted to order both the pan fried and steamed version, but was advised that you could only order 1 type of dumplings per order session. That’s a bit weird…
Our meats came pre-cooked on a hot plate, all the meats were mixed together, it certainly didn’t look appetizing to us. We were looking forward to cooking the meats ourselves at the table. I’m not sure if it was because there were only 2 of us dining and if you have more people you can cook your meat yourself? There was also quite a bit of oil on the bottom of the pan, the meats were just soaking it all up since we weren’t eating it as quickly enough.
The steamed dumplings were okay, not much to say about the dumplings. The soybean soup lacked flavour. We ended up having to flavour the soup with whatever sauce we could find on our table.
Overall, we were disappointed with our visit here. I’m hoping this was only because the restaurant had just opened and they’ve improved since then. I am a sucker for Korean bbq…perhaps I’ll be able to persuade Marv to join me for another visit to see if it’s changed.
