We were fortunate to be contacted by Snackbox and received a complimentary July Snackbox to review on our site.
Keep your eyes peeled below for our very 1st contest where 1 lucky reader will be able to win 1 Snackbox! 🙂
When Snackbox first started, I did originally sign up for the program, but I found their weekly shipments to be too frequent. I LOVE that they’ve listened to all the feedback they’ve received and changed the program to monthly shipments and even incorporating a $9 discount per box if you sign up for 6 months at a time! Each monthly shipment contains 10-12 items with a combination of sweet & savoury snacks. I like being able to try out items in smaller quantities rather than not knowing and impulse purchasing a big box only to find out that I don’t like it(be honest.. how many of you have been in the same situation?) 🙂
When I received the box, I was surprised by how big the box was! I was thinking a ‘Snackbox’ would be small in size, but I was delighted when I finally opened up the box. It was neatly packaged, but that didn’t last long since I was excited to see what was inside.
The July Snackbox spotlighted local Vancouverite ‘To Die For’ Erin Ireland! Another nice touch which I really appreciated in this Snackbox was the information pamphlet which spotlighted each item. It also lists how much each item retails for and where you can buy it(REALLY IMPORTANT since I always find myself having to google where to buy certain products.)
Let’s get started! Above left we have the Chocolate Macaroons from Organic Lives. I was attracted to the packaging simply because it showcased the product giving it a ‘what you see is what you get’ effect. The macaroons were soft with a strong coconut and chocolate flavour in each bite. I love coconut and chocolate, so this combination was amazing. See…it’s a good thing it came with a pamphlet, I just checked where I can buy some more! 🙂
Above right is the Chocolate Ginger Cookie from Kitchening & Co. It’s name is exactly on point, if you’re not a fan of the ginger taste, then you might want to pass on these. Don’t let this deter you from checking out the other products from Kitchening & Co. though! They do an amazing job with their macarons!
Next up, we snacked on the Sweet & Salty Pretzel Snack Mix from Cocolico. I’m beginning to think all the products are correctly named. This sure was sweet & salty with a kick of cinnamon. It turned the regular, boring pretzel snack into something different and I really enjoyed it. The Trail Mix from Skeet & Ike’s might’ve been my least favourite out of the Snackbox. I’m not huge on trail mixes, but it does contain a variety of dried fruit, nuts and seeds.
Granola Girl! I was first introduced to this at Eat! Vancouver and fell in love with it then. I ended up bringing a few bags home with me and was excited to see it part of this Snackbox. The Powerplant Fruit Bar didn’t work well with me. It was a bit chalky in taste.
The Hardbite Potato Chips were…you guessed it! hard to bite.. haha just kidding! Joking aside, these were delicious(as potato chips usually are), but they’re pretty crunchy and loaded with flavour. More please! The Fresh Is Best Tortilla Chips are a favourite of ours. We buy these regularly without even realizing they’re made in BC!
Ahh Coconut Chips from Hippie Foods.. where have you been all my life?! Let me tell you, these are AMAZING!! Seriously. Let me read to you the ingredients in this. Coconut, sugar and salt roasted in small batches. I can’t believe it’s that simple! Brilliant I tell you.. brilliant. To the right is the Monkey Butter – Salted Caramel. When I opened up the jar, all you could smell was the salted caramel. It’s extremely fragrant and a nice healthy all natural alternative to the peanut butter we’re all used to.
Rumble Dutch Cocoa was okay. Definitely chill before consuming, but it wasn’t memorable for me. On the right is from Urge Chocolates – orange with goji berries in dark chocolate. Are you salivating yet? I don’t usually like orange in my chocolate, but this was an exception. It was actually pretty darn good!
CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. THE WINNER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. IF NO RESPONSE IS RECEIVED IN 10 DAYS, ANOTHER WINNER WILL BE DRAWN AT RANDOM. THANK YOU FOR ENTERING.
If you’re interested in signing up for the Snackbox monthly subscription, you can also use a promotional code: 604MUNCHIES for $15 off your first box. Offer expires August 31, 2014.
